Tooth-coloured restorations — strong and natural-looking
Composite fillings restore the shape and function of a tooth with a material matched to the colour of your natural teeth.
What it is
Composite is a modern restorative material that bonds to tooth tissue and is cured with light. It allows the tooth's shape to be built up precisely in layers.
Who it's for
- After caries treatment
- For a chipped or worn tooth edge
- To replace an old or failing restoration
How treatment works
- Shade selection
- Tooth preparation
- Layered build-up of the restoration
- Bite adjustment, finishing and polishing
Benefits and limitations
Composite restorations are aesthetic and tissue-conserving. Over time they can discolour or wear and may need renewal. For very extensive damage a crown may be more suitable — discussed at your examination.
Aftercare
You can normally use the filling the same day unless we advise otherwise. Good hygiene extends the life of the restoration.
Treatment suitability and results depend on your individual clinical case and are determined after an examination.
